Testimonials - Impressions of Mediation Skills of Lee Solomon
From the Toughest Audience - Other Certified Mediators
Mediation proceedings are confidential, but here are some non-confidential comments about Lee Solomon's mediation skills:
"Your presentation in the joint session is so polished and effective. I loved it!"
"The conversational approach that you use as a mediator is very persuasive. You have so much credibility when you speak."
"I listened closely to everything you said. Your mediation skills are so effective that I want to steal them and use them."
This testimonial is from a significant case that Lee Solomon tried with co-counsel, starting with an excerpt from a letter authored by his co-counsel, who is an outstanding trial lawyer in Houston and a partner is one of the largest law firms in the world. This letter was written to the Chairman of the Board of their client company after this lawyer spent two weeks in trial in federal court with Lee Solomon, where they obtained a zero jury verdict for the Defendant in a $30 million exposure case:
“I have been fortunate enough to have worked in major cases with and against hundreds of trial lawyers, some of whom I consider to be the best in the state (and probably in the country) at their craft. From my view at counsel table, Lee Solomon can hold his own with any of them.”
Because of the significant risk of both actual and punitive damages, the Defendant Company had a “shadow jury” in the case. This means that strangers were sitting in the courtroom watching the lawyers and listening to the evidence. They were not told who had hired them to be there, so their impressions and opinions were completely objective. Prior to closing arguments, all members of the shadow jury except one wanted the Plaintiff to win the case (it was undisputed that the Plaintiff had suffered economic losses of $30 million), with the members about evenly split regarding who should win the case.
After closing arguments, the opinion of every member of the shadow jury changed. Showing how powerful and how critically important closing arguments are in the trial process, every member of the shadow jury was persuaded that he or she wanted the Defendant to win, and they also agreed unanimously that the Defendant should win. Members of the real jury agreed, and returned their verdict accordingly.
Here are comments that were made by members of the shadow jury about the closing argument of Lee Solomon:
“I like his voice. His tone is argumentative, but it goes over very well. He is very sure of himself.”
“I thought it was very good and very forceful. He did not harp on anything, but he put everything in perspective.”
“He did really good. Excellent. He just presented it so well. He put everything in order which is what I needed.”
“I really think Mr. Solomon was eloquent in how he spoke. He brought things up in exact order and really brought everything together.”
“He did an extremely good job. He brought together the testimony that he obtained and put it into a single frame. His beginning was absolutely classic. Again and again, he did just a super job of tying this case up and making his case.”
If you have a dispute that is headed to the Courtroom, or one that you want to keep out of the Courtroom, you have the opportunity to have Lee Solomon serve as your Mediator or Arbitrator or Conciliator as you try to resolve the case without incurring the expense and facing the risk of a verdict at trial.
